Kenneth Carey Jr, Cumberland County Mayor
Kenneth Carey Jr,
Cumberland County Mayor
The County Mayor is the chief financial officer of the county and performs duties and administrative tasks and interacts with other county officials in almost every area of local administration. The Mayor serves on many different boards and committees throughout  Cumberland County and the Upper Cumberland Region. The County Mayor is often viewed as a representative of the county or as the county’s leader in dealing with other governmental entities.
Even through a recession and poor economy we have managed to bring new jobs into Cumberland County through our efforts to attract new businesses and industry as well as working closely with several of our current industrial partners to generate expansions of their facilities.I have worked hard to keep your taxes low by cutting costs when possible, creating partnerships to avoid duplication of services, and increasing revenue from recycling programs just to name a few.We have added approximately $10 million dollars in much needed infrastructure since I took office. A few of the projects completed were the new health department facility, additions to Pine View and Pleasant Hill Elementary Schools, along with an improved and updated recycling center.

I am proud to say we have accomplished all of this without adding new long term debt. In fact, we have actually managed to lower Cumberland County’s debt by approximately $10 million dollars.

From my first day as County Mayor, I have always had an open door policy. I am here to serve you, the citizens of Cumberland County, and you are welcome at my office anytime. Whether you need assistance with something or just want to say hello, please call or stop by the courthouse.

I feel honored and consider it a privilege to serve the citizens of Cumberland County as their Mayor.
